PocketopTM Wireless Keyboard Now Available In Canada
'Must-Have' PDA Accessory Available in Canada at Future Shop stores; unveiled at Comdex Canada

JULY 10, 2002 - Comdex Canada 2002, Toronto, Canada

PocketopTM Computer Corporation, an innovative design company creating input solutions for the mobile handheld device market, today announced that its wireless keyboard for PDAs is now available in Canada at Future Shop stores. Canadian consumers will have an opportunity to try out the innovative PDA accessory at Comdex Canada 2002 in Toronto from July 10 to 12, 2002. Pocketop personnel will be demonstrating the product at booth #860 in the Palm Solutions Pavilion, and will be conducting a live presentation in one of the Comdex theatres.

The handheld device market is the fastest growing consumer electronics market in history. Industry analyst Gartner Dataquest projects 15.5 million PDAs will be shipped in 2002, an 18 percent increase from 2001 shipments of 13 million units. In 2001, the industry experienced a similar growth rate of 18.3 percent.

"Since successfully launching the Pocketop keyboard in the US, Canadian customers have been clamoring for the product," said David Ferguson, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Pocketop. "We're glad that our distribution partner was able to focus on the Canadian market right away. Customers here now have the ability to work wirelessly with the PDA of their choice and do not have to worry about changing keyboards ever again."

Live Demonstration
Media and conference participants interested in learning more about the Pocketop Keyboard can attend a presentation to be held in The Information Security Learning Pavilion, located on the show floor near booth #342. The 45-minute presentation is scheduled for Wednesday, July 10 from 11:00 am - 11:45am and includes a question and answer period. Interested parties can obtain a free Exhibit Pass for Comdex from the website at www.pocketopinc.com/.
Features demonstrated include:
  • Size - The Pocketop Keyboard is half the volume and weight of the market leader
  • Wireless - The keyboard employs infrared (iR) technology, avoiding the clumsy cords or hook-ups required by traditional portable keyboards
  • Touch typing - The keyboard employs a QWERTY keyboard layout design allowing for full functionality and touch-typing from a smaller, three-dimensional key design
  • Pocket Computer Option - The keyboard can attach to a Palm m500 series device and both the Palm and keyboard can be carried in one pocket

Wireless - Compatible - Compact
The Pocketop Keyboard is optimized for the Palm and is universally compatible with most PDAs. Utilizing the infrared port available on most devices to communicate means there are no clumsy hardware connections - set-up is quick and easy. And because competitive PDA keyboards each have a different hardware connection, consumers upgrading their PDA must buy a new keyboard. The Pocketop Keyboard is wireless and therefore not only works with the consumer's PDA of choice today, but can be adapted to their new PDA by downloading the new device driver software. A convenient stand and hinge set is included that offers consumers a variety of set-up options. The Pocketop Keyboard's simple design has only one fold and no moving parts, making it less susceptible to wear and tear. It can be carried together with the PDA as one device, fitting easily in the same pocket.

Pricing and Availability
The keyboard is being marketed as the Wireless Link Keyboard to North American retailers by channel partner Micro Innovations. Since launching the product into US retail in May 2002, demand for the Pocketop Keyboard has exceeded all expectations, with Pocketop shipping over 60,000 units. The Wireless Link Keyboard is currently available at Future Shop. The suggested retail price in Canada is $159.00.
